"Summer is the season of giving for the Weinberg Foundation"

17 area non-profits, including several headed by Weinberg Fellows, were awarded "Employee Giving Program" grants of $10,000 at a luncheon held at the Camden Club on Tuesday, July 10th.

In 2007, the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation located in Baltimore joined its Hawaii counterpart in implementing an "Employees' Giving Program." This meant that each of 17 Weinberg Foundation employees were encouraged to select one non-profit organization that would receive a generous grant of $10,000 and the honor of being amongst a small group of area non-profits featured at the annual luncheon.

YANA (You Are Never Alone), Maryland's first non-profit devoted to providing alternatives to victims of prostitution (and its only organization which assists sex trafficking survivors escape the life) is proud to be one of the 17 chosen this year, an honor made possible in part by its new fiscal partnership with 2003 Weinberg Fellow Debbie Rock of LIGHT, Health & Wellness Comprehensive Services, Inc. (formerly the Baltimore HIV Pediatric AIDS Project).

YANA reaches out in love and service to women and children impacted by prostitution and human trafficking, and recently began a prevention program for teens. It was selected by Mrs. Marilyn Officer, grants administrator for the Foundation and assistant to Donn Weinberg, Vice President and Trustee.

We at YANA are continually grateful for the outstanding support of Donn Weinberg, Marilyn Officer, Barry Schloss, Ted Gross and all of the Weinberg Foundation family, and we thank each of you from the bottom of our hearts for all you do to help the women and children we work with, who struggle so hard just to see another day, survive and thrive.

Finally, I want to share that it was a wonderful luncheon! It was great to hear from everyone present and to know that many additional Weinberg Fellow colleagues will likely become Giving Program recipieints, too.
