Maryland Disability Law Center (MDLC) has produced an award winning film, Behind Closed Doors, which will receive two screenings at the Maryland Film Festival.

Behind Closed Doors, the brainchild of MDLC attorney Laura Cain, will receive two screenings at the Maryland Film Festival. It will be shown on Saturday, May 5 at 7 PM at the Charles Theatre.

Behind Closed Doors tells the stories of four women who had traumatic experiences in their childhoods which led them to become enmeshed in the mental health system where, instead of receiving enlightened, appropriate treatment and care, they were retraumatized by practices of seclusion, restraint and forced medication.

Behind Closed Doors won the "Best Documentary" award at the All-American film festival in Durham, NC last April.
